Matthew Baker

Maine (USA). He begins to work professionally at thirteen years as
contrabassist tutti, and then as a soloist, with the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with great orchestras, such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Halle, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

He has made concerts in more than 20 countries with acclaimed critics as a soloist and in formations of chamber music, jazz, celtic music and theater: London (The Times, Indenpendent, Guardian), Glasgow (The Sunday Herald, Scotsman), Dublin (Irish Times), United States (Chamber Music Magazine, Bass World) and in Spain (ABC, La Vanguardia, Las Provincias).

He is co-founder of the groups of chamber Ensemble La Seu and Bass Instinct.
In addition to his work at Elan Quintet, he is involved with his groups of
jazz JPMB and “Matt Baker and Fabio Zambelli Duo”. He has worked with the musicians Dave Samuels, Bob Mintzer, Ryan Kisor, Jack Walrath, Jorge Pardo and Víctor Mendoza among others.

He has made recordings with legends Celtics such as Catriona McKay and Chris Stout. He is currently a member of the Orchestra of the Valencian Community (Palau de les Arts).
